Use Realtor Bio As Your Personal Brand

A good real estate bio can make a strong first impression and show potential buyers and sellers that you’re a serious professional they can trust. Your bio is a piece of marketing, but we like to think of it as an integral part of the personal brand you build for yourself. A client will be looking for your wisdom, eloquence, and personality; your bio can help illustrate all those elements.

Realtor Bio: First Person or Third?

Which POV should you use when writing your realtor bio? It’s mostly a matter of preference. But there are some key differences to keep in mind.

Writing in the third person is more formal. It is usually better suited for corporate websites that have multiple real estate agent bios and profiles.

The first person is less formal and more personable. This is how you would speak to people in person, using “I” and “me.” First person narrative is easier to write than the third person. Because it’s the way we speak.

How to Structure Realtor Bio?

Instead of having one big block of text, divide your realtor bio into logical sections. For instance, you might divide your agent bio into the following sections:

  • Your real estate specialty or niche
  • Professional training and experience
  • Educational background

  • Articles you’ve written and published online

10 Tips to Writing an Amazing Real Estate Bio

1. Tell Your Skills

Share some of the best points of your professional experience. Reveal some of your real estate knowledge, but don’t lay all your cards on the table. This is just the first introduction and too many facts can be overwhelming.

2. Use a Proper Photo

Make sure the photo is one you like, one that looks like you in person, and one that sends a positive impression.

3. No Selling

The most important advice we could give: Do not use your bio space to sell your services. A biography is a written account of a life, not an advertisement. This space is where a client can find out what kind of person will be assisting them with one of the larger purchases in their lifetime. Gain their trust and excite them about the process. Be authentic.

4. Be Truthful

Honesty is the best biography. As a realtor, you are there to guide your clients towards the best possible home for them. Why should they trust you? Talk about things that show you’re a hard worker, a straight shooter and that this is the job you love doing.

5. Make it Clean and Right to the Point

The length of a great bio should be between 200 and 300 words, and around 2 to 3 paragraphs. Any longer and your reader will start to lose interest. Use short, clean phrases that are easy to understand.

6. Edit Over and Over

Read what you write, and then read it again. You’ve created a bio that makes you sound accomplished, so don’t misrepresent your professionalism with a few noticeable spelling mistakes.

7. Where Are You? How Do I Reach You?

Use your geographic location in your description. When you explain where you work, search engines guide searches to you according to that, which can result in more online search success.

8. Show Your Passion and Love

Given the vast amount of real estate agents and the fierce competition, what will make you stand out is your passion. Tell your potential clients why you love what you do and why you can’t imagine doing anything else.

9. Keeping It Fresh

Many things can change in your business climate in as little as a six-month period. Writing and re-writing your bio should be a semi-annual or annual goal.

10. Tell What You Can Help

What makes you special is that what and how you can help clients. Use the real estate bio to stats that you can handle their transaction and advocate for them and that you will make them feel cared for during the transaction.
